So I’ve shown you a few piccies of my new stead. The one that will take me 2000 miles around Italy this summer. And ain’t she a beauty?!
You might be wondering who created such a thing. Well that’s exactly what I’m going to tell you. Because there is quite a nice story behind these wheels.
Swifty Scooters is a family business founded by husband and wife team Jason and Camilla Iftakhar. They met whilst studying at the Royal College of Art, both graduating in 2005. Isn’t that cute? And they make quite a team.
With Jason’s product design brain and Camilla’s fashion design skills, they rock out the coolest scooters and accessories around. And believe me, I have looked.
Based in Manchester, everything is sourced nearby. Everything is designed and handmade there. And then each set of scoots is carefully assembled by Jason in his manly workshop in Salford.
Watch this space for my big scoot up to visit them with Dave Cornthwaite to see where it all started.
Now I just need to get scooting. Haven’t quite got the hang of it yet…
