It’s a Beats of the Week special this week after one of those moments where you bump into someone famous and you aren’t sure how you might react coupled with the confidence of a few ales, a few more ales and some limoncello. When I came face to face with baby-faced Harry Styles of X Factor fame in a London bar I think I reacted like we all would. I asked him which six songs he’d take with him to a desert island, and in keeping with the long-running BBC Radio 4 show I allowed him a book and a luxury item.

So here are Harry Styles’ Desert Island Discs:

1. Beastie Boys – Intergalactic

2. Beastie Boys – (You Gotta)Fight For Your Right (To Party)

EL: Two from the Beasties?

HS: Yeah, why not?

3. Travis – Flowers in the Window

4. Tracy Chapman – Fast Car

5. Beach Boys – God Only Knows

6. Oasis – Half the World Away

EL: Actually, I’m not letting you have two from the Beastie Boys, you’ve got to pick one more.

HS: Okay

7. The Rolling Stones – Brown Sugar

EL: Good choices

HS: Thanks

EL: Okay, what book are you going to take?

Book: Roald Dahl – Matilda

EL: And finally, your luxury item.

Luxury Item: My hat

EL: Your hat?

HS: You’ve got to have a hat.

EL: Really?

HS: Yeah, it’s nice to chill in a hat.

EL: True and you are going to be exposed to high levels of sunlight so I guess it makes sense. Thanks, I think that’s everything. Can I buy you a drink?

HS: No thanks, I’m driving

EL: What are you driving?

HS: A car.

At this point I realise I’ve possibly outstayed my welcome.

Join us again next week on Trivial Pursuits when we play Just a Minute with JLS.
