The third instalment of the new Traffic Lights feature stars a Starbuck’s Barista who we have called Miss Caramel Frapp.

Real people, real answers, silly questions

caramel frappuccino

Occupation: Starbucks Barista

Name: Miss Caramel Frapp

Length of employment at Starbucks: Roughly 8 months.

Salary per hour: I think it’s about £6.50

Are you allowed free coffees?

Yes – before, after and throughout our shift which is really good!

What is the ingredients of a Coffee Frappuccino ?

Milk, coffee and frappuccino base…

What does Frappuccino actually mean?

This is a good question, I don’t actually know – what a bad employee.

Who comes up with the silly coffee names?

Again, I should probably know this…oops.

I walk into Starbucks and demand a tall, skinny, one shot, sugar free vanilla, sugar free hazelnut, extra frothed, extra hot, double cupped latte and once you’ve made it I taste it and say ‘YUK’.  What do you say?

Is everything okay with your coffee? If you are not happy with it we can always make you another one…(smiling sweetly of course…)

With 16,000 Starbucks stores worldwide, people say your workplace is taking over the world.  You are complicit in this.  What is your role in taking over the world?

Making sure that everyone is supplied with coffee on demand all day everyday – that would be good wouldn’t it?

What’s your favourite Starbucks Coffee?

It is a difficult one because I like many……Maybe an extra shot Caramel Latte or an extra coffee, extra caramel, Caramel Coffee Frappuccino…. also quite a fan of Caramel Macchiatos.

What drink do you most hate making?

Not a fan of making frappucinos to be honest; you get in a rhythm making hot drinks and then someone throws a frappucino in the works and it all goes wrong… Flat Whites are a bit of devil as well!

What do you think of your colleagues?

They are all lovely, I’m not just saying that either. It’s nice to be part of a team that can work well together and have a laugh at the same time.

How come all the cakes and pastries look EXACTLY the same as one another – are they made of plastic?

Yep you got it in one. Nah, we are just really good at making them look pretty.

Who has been the oddest customer you’ve ever served?

Someone that looked exactly like Michael Jackson – no word of a lie he really did. It was very bizarre.

Has a customer ever shouted at you – and if so, did you retaliate?

You know I don’t think I have. It does happen but I have obviously managed to avoid them pretty well. You do get the impatient ones who storm to the end of the bar and ask where their coffee is seconds after ordering it and ahead of the people already waiting.

Has anyone ever bought a coffee, sat with it for an hour, then brought it back to complain that it was cold?

Oh I expect so, I am sure people do it just to be annoying.

Do you ever get bored of all the jazz and sometimes just want to whack on a bit of Bieber?

Some days yes but sometimes it is easy enough to block it out of your head and pretend it isn’t there.

Did you know the name of Starbucks was inspired by Moby Dick?  Either way, for a coffee company, don’t you think that is a little bit stupid?

I did know that, it was also something to do with a mountain I think?

Tell us something we won’t know about Starbucks.

You can now pay using an App on your iPhone if you have a Starbucks reward card, you can find out more about that on the Starbucks website. Technology these days!

Anything else you’d like to add?

Thanks to my job, I am officially addicted to coffee….

Trivial Pursuits would like to thank Miss Caramel Frapp for her time and enthusiasm.
